Cost Analysis
QuickLog
The goal of QuickLog is to save you time (while producing logs that make you look professional). Depending on your current
method of creating boring logs, you should save 15 minutes to 1 hour for each log you create. Below is a cost analysis table of
savings based on the number of logs you do with an employee hourly rate of $25 per hour:
| Logs/Month |
Hours Saved/Month |
$ Saved/Month |
$ Saved/Year |
| 5 |
1.25 to 5 |
$31.25 to $125 |
$375 to $1500 |
| 10 |
2.5 to 10 |
$62.50 to $250 |
$750 to $3000 |
| 20 |
5 to 20 |
$125 to $500 |
$1500 to $6000 |
QuickCross/Fence
By importing QuickLog data and placing the borings to scale, QuickCross/Fence immediately saves about 2 hours per cross section. If you
are creating more complex cross sections, you'll save even more time with its drawing tools (nodes between layers, lens fill, etc.)
that are more efficient than AutoCAD (and similar programs) for this specific task. For the table below, we'll estimate that 4 hours are saved for each
drawing and use an hourly rate of $40 (since a draftsperson or geologist would be doing this task):
| Cross Sections/Year |
Hours Saved/Year |
$ Saved/Year |
| 5 |
20 |
$800 |
| 10 |
40 |
$1600 |

$3200 |
Pay-As-You-Go License
With this option, the software is installed on everyone's computer. So, the licensing system, alone, should increase your efficiency --
no waiting for software on a dedicated computer to become available, no looking for hardware keys, no handing off logs/cross-sections to a
draftsperson, no managing licenses by IT staff. The cost is $10/hour.
For the table below, we’ll estimate that a $25/hr QuickLog user can save 30 minutes to an hour per log. Similarly, we’ll estimate that
a $40/hr Quick/Cross Fence user can reduce the drawing time from 6 hours to 2 hours:
| Product |
Cost per Log or X-Section |
Value of User Time Saved |
$ Saved per Log or Cross Section |
| QuickLog |
$5 to $10 |
$12.50 to $25 |
$7.50 to $15 |
| QuickCross/Fence |
$20 |
$160 |
$140 |
